The Lamar Community College men's golf team launched their fall season with a tournament hosted by Eastern Wyoming College.
The Lopes totaled a two-day score of 661 (332-329) and finishing in sixth place.
Head Coach Roy Dewbre noted that this wasn't the start he had hoped for but that the team has potential.
"Hopefully this week we will do better," Dewbre said. "We are capable, but performance is what counts."
Cesar Shinall led the team with a two-day score of 161 (78-83). Kyle Colen followed right behind, shooting 163 (79-84). Robert Heiny finished with 164 (83-81), Joey Penovich with 173 (92-81), and Geoffrey Kozlowski with 189 (100-89).
As a team, the Lopes finished with a score of 661 (+85), completing 332 strokes on Thursday and 329 on Friday.
Eastern Wyoming College won the tournament with a score of 578 (+2), followed by McCook 611 (+35) and Central Wyoming 621 (+45). Otero Community College took fourth 640 (+64) and Northeastern came in fifth 644 (+68).
The team will travel next to Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming, to participate in another golf tournament.
