Former Lope player and coach Reed to play at CSU-Pueblo

After spending the fall with the LCC softball program as an assistant coach, alumni Lauren Reed has decided to continue her education and softball career at Colorado State University Pueblo as a ThunderWolf. CSU-Pueblo is a NCAA Division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and is located in Pueblo, Colorado.

Reed will be competing this spring against three former Lopes, Caitlin McCarthy at Colorado Christian University and Samantha McDonald and Mercedes Salazar at Adams State.

"We are very proud of Lauren deciding to continue her education and softball career after coaching with us this fall," LCC head coach Kristen Silva said. "She will be a great contributor to CSUP's pitching staff and am excited to see her compete again."

As a Runnin' Lope, Lauren was a primary pitcher who helped LCC to 35 wins last season. In 2018, she led the pitching staff with a 13-4 record and threw 110.2 innings with an ERA of 3.35. Reed allowed only 42 walks last year and struck out 75. The year before, Reed led the 2017 pitching staff with a 19-13 record and threw 178.1 innings with an ERA of 4.55. She also batted .462 for the Lopes with a team high on base percentage of .550. These performances led to All-Region Awards as a pitcher in Reed's freshman and sophomore year at LCC.
