WTC Classic Recap
The Lamar Runnin' Lopes men's basketball team hit the road to West Texas this past weekend, coming up just short in two hard-fought battles against well-coached, talented Texas programs. The Lopes fell to Western Texas College, 73–77, and later to Howard College, 66–82.
Against Howard, Gavin Dabney led the way with 18 points and 4 rebounds, while RJ Foreman followed closely with 16 points and 5 boards. Christian Payawal dished out 8 assists and continues to lead the country in assist-to-turnover ratio.
In the matchup with WTC, the Lopes were powered by a breakout performance from Gavin Dabney, who erupted for 26 points while shooting 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Jaylon Brown added 12 points and 3 assists, RJ Foreman chipped in 10 points, and Christian Payawal recorded a strong all-around game with 10 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals.
