Lamar Community College Men’s Soccer Welcomes Versatile Defender Jian Liu

Jian Liu is a versatile left-footed defender from Gillingham, England, standing at 6'0" and capable of playing as a centre back, left back, or defensive midfielder. Alongside his football career, he is currently pursuing a degree in Business.

Jian has gained valuable experience across multiple competitive levels, competing in both the NJCAA Division I and Division II systems in the United States. Prior to this, he developed in England through Yeovil Town's youth setup and also gained experience in Spain's fifth division, further broadening his tactical and technical development.

His progression earned him selection for a Loudoun United FC (USL Championship) combine/trial, where he was chosen from a large pool of players, highlighting his potential at a higher level of the game.

In 2025, Jian became increasingly integrated within his collegiate squad, gaining valuable involvement in the team environment while continuing to develop both on and off the pitch. He has also recently signed with a UPSL Premier side in Florida for the summer, adding semi-professional experience to his growing football résumé.

Jian attended Gillingham School and progressed through club football during his youth career, including time within the Yeovil Town system.

Away from football, Jian enjoys golf and badminton, and cites Cristiano Ronaldo as his favorite sporting figure.
